Responsible for coordinating the origination of all first mortgage loan applications and in the consummation of their ultimate closing and other various duties relating to the origination of mortgage loan applications.  . Ensures that all mortgage loan policies and procedures pertinent to both state and federal laws and regulations are being adhered to.  Work with members in providing guidance to obtain a suitable mortgage that meets their needs.   This is an inside sales position as all mortgage leads will be provided through internal marketing campaigns.   We are creating an in-house mortgage department from the ground up.   Come bring your expertise and valuable input to help shape the department and create a successful and fun team to be a part of.   This is not a 100%  commission pay structure.


  • Coordinates the origination of all first mortgage loan applications and assists in the consummation of their ultimate closing.
  • Meet with potential borrowers to understand their financial needs and find the best mortgage product to suit those needs. 
  • Manage member experience through the entire loan process,  from origination through closing.
  • Accommodate members’  needs by meeting with them at their convenience,  which may be outside of the Credit  Union’s regular place of business and hours of operation.
  • Counseling prospects on loan programs and pricing using thorough knowledge of key lending concepts such as debt-to-income ratios,  Loan-to-Value percentages, credit scoring, and other underwriting criteria.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions on loans with members.
  • Communicating credit decisions and negotiating specific terms and conditions for loans within parameters,  as defined by policy and credit decisions.
  • Plans, coordinates and participates in activities that promote homeownership,  including homebuyer seminars,  home shows, broker’s meetings, and other home financing workshops.
  • High focus on determining the member’s financial needs and cross-sell the appropriate credit union mortgage loan product while concentrating on developing member relationships.
  • Facilitates the member’s mortgage loan application and ensures that the compilation of the member’s information is accurate and complete.
  • Communicating credit decisions and negotiating specific terms and conditions for loans within parameters,  as defined by policy and credit decisions.
  • Communicates both verbally and in writing to member inquiries pertaining to all functions related to the mortgage loan process.
  • Demonstrate behaviors that are consistent with the CU’s values,  philosophies,  and leadership characteristics.
  • Work with other  CU  departments to ensure the workflow or process is providing the best service to the members.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.   


  • High school diploma or equivalent required.  Bachelor’s degree preferred. 
  • 3+ years of first mortgage real estate origination experience in a financial institution or mortgage banking operation.
  • Must be able to obtain NMLS  license   


  • Comprehensive knowledge of  mortgage  loan origination
  • Solid understanding of  all  mortgage systems  used and how  they  operate in order  to  make decisions  on technology  upgrades  and  system  compatibility 
  • Demonstrate working  knowledge of  TRID,  HOEPA,  ECOA,  HMDA,  RESPA,  Flood,  FNMA,  FHLMC, BSA,  OFAC  FHLB, and other  investor  policies  and procedures  and implement  as  necessary  in daily activities
  • Knowledge of  Fannie Mae,  Freddie Mac,  and  Secondary  Market underwriting guidelines and eligibility requirements.
  • Experience utilizing mortgage loan platforms and other applicable systems which utilize pipeline tracking and management capabilities.
  • Demonstrates  a strong degree of  sales  aptitude and good follow-through  skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
  • Attend  and/or  participate in Credit  Union events
  • Work overtime when necessary,  especially during peak times.
  • Must be able to sit and use a computer for extended periods of time.


  • Receives  direct  supervision from  Vice President,  Mortgage  Operations
  • May receive direction or  verbal  instruction  from  Senior  Vice President,  Lending
