What is my e-Branch Password?

Your e-Branch (online banking) Password is generated and mailed to you when your account is opened or, if at a later date, upon your request. This is a temporary Password, and you will be prompted to change it upon log in.

Can I access my accounts when traveling internationally?

Yes! Your MITFCU Visa Credit Card and Debit Card will work in most countries. MITFCU may restrict transactions in certain countries; therefore, we recommend you notify us of your travel plans (destination and dates) beforehand so we can make the proper notations to your accounts. Notify us by calling 617-253-2845 or toll-free 855-648-2848 or simply complete a Travel Alert Request form (in e-Branch, click on the Secure Forms tab).


Overseas ATM networks only recognize Checking Accounts, so you can only access your Checking Account funds through the ATM. Please ensure you have adequate funds in your Checking Account or contact us to transfer funds.

Is online banking secure?

MITFCU online banking uses Enhanced Login Security providing you with additional protection from fraud and identity theft. Enhanced Login Security helps prevent unauthorized access to your accounts and your secure financial information. These authentication tools allow for recognizing you as the true owner of your account by verifying your log in information and your computer. If your computer is not recognized, there will be a request for additional information in order to ensure authorized access.

What is EMV?

EMV, (Europay, MasterCard and Visa), is an embedded microprocessor “chip” on your Visa credit card.

How is an EMV chip-enhanced card different from a magnetic stripe card?

A chip-enhanced card contains an embedded microchip which contains encrypted information, increasing the level of protection. You will insert your card into a chip-enabled terminal to complete a transaction. In addition to the embedded microchip, the chip-card still has a magnetic stripe and will allow for ‘swipe-based’ purchases

Are the funds that I have on deposit with MIT Federal Credit Union insured?

How do I make a payment on my Visa account?

You can make payments at a branch, online, through our call center, or by mail. Please mail your payment to MITFCU, PO Box 9217, Des Moines, IA 50306-9217.

How do I dispute an item on my Visa bill?

All disputes must be sent in writing to Customer Service, PO BOX 9217, Des Moines, IA 50306-9217. The credit card provider must hear from you no later than 60 days after the first bill on which the error or problem occurred was sent. Please include the following information on the dispute form:

  1. Your name and account number
  2. Dollar amount of suspected error
  3. Description of the error and, if possible, an explanation of why you believe the error occurred

How can I get my credit limit increased?

You will receive an email notification on the status of your increase request the following business day.

How do I make a cash advance?

There are two convenient ways to get cash from your credit card. You can call 888-891-2435 to request a PIN and make withdrawals from any ATM or visit a financial institution that accepts Visa.

How do I activate my Visa Card?

When you receive your card, please call 888-691-8661 from the phone number you have with us on file. Once your card is activated, you can enroll in MyCardInfo for full online access.
