Environmentally Friendly Products

  • When purchasing a new refrigerator, stove, or other home appliance, look for the Energy Star label. Visit www.energystar.gov to see a list of energy-efficient products.
  • Instead of using ten or more plastic bags every time you buy groceries, purchase reusable cloth or canvas bags. Almost all grocery stores sell these environmentally-friendly alternatives for $1.00 per bag. Plus, you'll have fewer plastic bags cluttering up your cabinets and closets.
  • Replace your traditional light bulbs with compact fluorescent bulbs, which last ten times longer! A 15-watt compact fluorescent bulb provides as much light as a standard 60-watt bulb.
  • Use nontoxic cleaning supplies. There are many environmentally-friendly products at your local store; just look for labels that read "certified biodegradable" or "certified vegan." Lemon, vinegar, and baking soda are found in most every household and all can double as fantastic cleaning solutions.
